I enjoy reading your comments about your childhood. Since we grew up in the same family I know well things like invoking the middle name when we were in trouble as well as the phrase, “I’m going to crown you”. I can also understand how reasonable dr’s fees can be; I relate with so many of your :foreign experiences. Please keep on writing!-sfc

Though we were mostly spared the “visa runs” we certainly are familiar with hearing of various ones who had to include such a trip in their every-so-often routine. Oh, goodness! Now you have some stories to swap with your friends who lived in Vietnam. Subsequent trips will surely be more foolproof — extra clothes, money, an idea as to the return trip time, etc. Ugh. Sorry. Glad you got back and didn’t have any trouble due to the 91 days. I kept waiting for that part. Glad it didn’t come.

Dana, I smiled as I read your descriptions of Nanette. ( I too am an Oatmeal-for-breakfast-every-day kind of person…only ours always includes raisins and cinnamon and old fashioned, 5-minutes-to-cook oats are superior to anything else. Personally, I’m not so flexible about my oatmeal. I wonder why we have so much in common. :>) ) I appreciate the treasures you’re uncovering.
